Starting capacitors

The starting capacitors are usually electrolytic and at the time of starting the motor they work together with the running capacitor, thus providing higher motor starting torque.
Starting capacitors reduce the spark between the contacts and provide a rapid increase in the magnetic field.

After starting the motor, the starting capacitor is disconnected from the circuit, by means of a centrifugal switch or relay – circuit breaker, which can be electronic or electromechanical.
